Albany / Mount Barker Young Farmer field Day Announced

WAFF

The Western Australian Farmers Federation (Inc.) (WAFarmers) announced yesterday at the WAFarmers CBH Group Young Farmer Section conference that an Albany/Mount Barker Young Farmer Field Day will be held on Friday July 11, 2008.

The event will be held at Plantagenet Hotel, Lowood Road, Mount Barker, from 8:30am to 5:30pm, followed by a Sundowner.

Mietta Skinner, WAFarmers Albany Zone Coordinator and newly elected WAFarmers Young Farmer Section President, said that the event is open to all young farmers aged 18 to 40.

“The Young Farmers Field Day will provide a fantastic opportunity for young farmers to interact and network with each other in an environment conducive to learning.

“The day will include a ‘behind the scenes’ tour of the CBH Group’s facilities and a tour of the Albany Port.

“Young farmers will also hear ways to improve their livestock quality and explore what happens at the Department of Agriculture and Food WA’s Animal Health Labs,” said Mrs Skinner.

WAFarmers held a successful Young Farmer Field Day in Esperance in 2007, with around 50 of the region’s young farmers participating.

“WAFarmers is keen to provide events tailored to the needs of the next generation of farmers and an environment where young farmers don’t feel intimidated to ask questions.

“All young people from rural WA are encouraged to attend the free event,” concluded Mrs Skinner.

Registration for the WAFarmers Albany/Mount Barker Young Farmer Field Day is essential. To register, young farmers and other young industry participants should contact Mrs Mietta Skinner on (08) 9854 1080 or email brycemiet@westnet.com.au by June 27, 2008.
